The EDC is proud to welcome the Canaveral Port Authority (CPA) as an Ambassador Council Investor.
Recently, the CPA launched its container cargo business and wrapped two containers displaying the regional business brand, "Orlando. You don't know the half of it." While traveling abroad with cargo from Florida, the containers will be fitted with tracking devices that will transmit from different countries and ports around the world.
The Canaveral Port Authority is furthering economic opportunities by undergoing major improvements on its deeper water capabilities, container and general cargo terminal expansions, rail connectivity and diversification of cargo bases. By leveraging its location, growth potential, expertise and resources, the Canaveral Port Authority aims to establish Port Canaveral as the deepest, most accessible east coast port in Central Florida by 2020.
An expanding container terminal with capabilities to reach markets in Central and South America, the Caribbean, Africa and Europe, Port Canaveral is also a top cruise and leisure port. Other assets include:
- Major deep-water port of entry, 50 miles east of Orlando with depths ranging from 39 ft. to 41 ft.
- The world’s only quadramodal foreign trade zone, interchanging freight among sea, land, air and space
- Shortest direct entry on the east coast, with only 45-minute travel time from first sea buoy to anchorage
- Eleven deep-water cargo piers with two gantry cranes arriving
- State-of-the-art handling equipment such as a 40 metric ton Mobile Harbor Crane
